Wayne State, Walsh College help Blackstone LaunchPad grow Michigan businesses

The Blackstone Charitable Foundation committed $2 million in 2010 to create Blackstone LaunchPad on the campuses of Wayne State University and Walsh College. Today, more than 20 expert venture coaches - consisting of lawyers, accountants, bankers and serial entrepreneurs - volunteer their time, expertise and contacts to student and alumni entrepreneurs at the two universities. Bill Volz, WSU School of Business Administration professor of accounting and executive director of the Blackstone LaunchPad at WSU, said that Michigan’s business community has been very generous with their support of this initiative. The New Economy Initiative continues to support the program. "We’re also reaching out to others in the hopes that additional financial support will enable us to continue to help build and grow Michigan businesses," he said.
