Innovative new Ilitch School programs provide students with key career skills and industry insightsÂ
The Mike Ilitch School of Business is constantly evolving its programs and improving curriculum, introducing new programs and updating courses to incorporate the latest technology, artificial intelligence and industry practices to provide students with practical skills to begin or advance their careers.
Three new programs are now available to help students reach their educational and career goals. The two graduate level programs are the online Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Joint M.B.A./M.S.A. program. The undergraduate minor in entrepreneurship and innovation is available to all Wayne State students.
These programs offer flexibility for students to balance their education with their professional and personal lives.
Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership (M.S.O.L.)
The M.S. in Organizational leadership is a fully online program that is designed to address the leadership and management needs of a wide variety of industries. Current and future leaders take courses designed by expert faculty to develop the competencies needed to lead diverse workforces in constantly evolving organizational environments.
This rigorous program uses an evidence-based curriculum consisting of 30 credits of coursework, split between 12 credits of required classes and 18 credits of elective courses. Individuals with two or more years of work experience, and a bachelors degree are encouraged to apply, however a business education background is not required to enroll.

Joint M.B.A./M.S.A. Program
The joint M.B.A. and Masters of Science in Accounting (M.S.A.) program is designed to provide specialized accounting knowledge, and a deeper understanding of business acumen. Developed and taught by Ilitch School faculty with experience in financial accounting, auditing, international accounting, business law and ethics, and taxation, this course provides insights into the theoretical and practical aspects of accounting and prepares its students to excel in their roles as financial experts and strategic leaders.
Consisting of 54 credit hours, including all of the core requirements for an M.B.A. and 18 credit hours of M.S.A. courses, this program can be completed with a mix of in-person and online classes. Degrees can be conferred sequentially or simultaneously, depending on the elected order of study.
Upon completion of the program, students will have also satisfied the requirements established by the MICPA for licensure and will be prepared to sit for the CPA exam.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minor
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation minor provides students with the specialized knowledge, skills and experience to develop and launch startup or social impact ventures. Coursework provides a practical perspective in creating growth strategies, product and service development processes, new venture marketing and promotion and financing evaluation.
Students earn their minor in entrepreneurship and innovation by completing 15 credit hours of courses, consisting of nine hours of required classes and six hours of electives. Both business majors and non-business majors can enroll in this program and learn the skills required to launch a new business.

The Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business prepares students for challenging and rewarding careers, advances the boundaries of scholarly and practitioner knowledge, and enhances the economic vitality of the city of Detroit, the state of Michigan and beyond through its programs, research and community engagement. Established in 1946, the business school was renamed in 2015 in recognition of a $40 million gift from Mike and Marian Ilitch.
