Open new doors in the new year with Ilitch School Entrepreneurship and Innovation course offerings

The Mike Ilitch School of Business invites all Wayne State University students to explore the growing field of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EI) and learn more about the many doors that can be opened by acquiring the specialized knowledge, skills and experience required to develop, launch and grow a new venture. Entrepreneurs and innovators not only open doors to their own professional opportunities, they are also critical to the long-term health and prosperity of our economy and society.

The Ilitch School’s Winter 2021 offerings include:

EI 5900/7800, Teams and Innovation Creation
Meets synchronously online Mondays 6-8:30 p.m.
Student team members work to address a market challenge provided by Assembly Ventures, a mobility-focused venture capital fund. Utilizing the Competing Values framework, weekly sessions include guest speakers and case studies selected to assist teams as they build and present a business proposition to angel investors.

EI 7800/MGT 7700, Convergence Accelerator
Meets synchronously online Wednesdays 6-8:30 p.m.
Designed for graduate students with either a technical or business background, the course will create a network of commercialization-savvy individuals to support efforts to evaluate technologies, develop a commercialization plan and engage around identifiable funding opportunities. The NSF Convergence Accelerator (NSF C-Accel) serves as an organizing framework, and we anticipate that paid internship opportunities will be available to qualified individuals successfully completing this course.

ADX 3100, Design Thinking
Meets synchronously online Thursdays 2:30-5 p.m.
For students from any discipline who want an understanding of design thinking for brand-, product- and service-development. Students learn design thinking concepts, methods and techniques used to bring about innovation in business and in the social sector. Students will develop creative skills, along with the strategic skills needed to identify needs, generate and visualize ideas to meet those needs and, ultimately, bring these ideas to market.

Other Winter 2021 courses
Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Innovation classes (EI 7000) are scheduled for Tuesday afternoons or Tuesday evenings, and there will be a section of Marketing New Ventures (EI 7600) offered in Winter 2021. These courses are all offered synchronously online.

Be on the lookout for other developments soon by following the Warrior Entrepreneurs and Innovators on Instagram and Facebook. Contact Program Director Jeff Stoltman (jeffstoltman@wayne.edu) or your Ilitch School advisor with questions about these courses.
