Mike Ilitch School of Business Laptop Loan Program

Access to the appropriate technology is essential to success in a modern business school classroom, but it also poses a barrier to students unable to access the devices and programs necessary to be successful. The Laptop Loan Program, an innovative initiative established by a generous gift from Ilitch School alumni Byron Pond Jr. and his family, aims to break down those barriers.

Students accepted to receive this program's assistance will be loaned a fully equipped laptop computer, complete with:

  • Microsoft Office
  • WSU's VPN software Global Protect
  • a four-year warranty

Any student who needs additional software to complete coursework can contact Computing & Information Technology as needed.

Students who continue to meet the eligibility requirements will be allowed to keep their laptop for the duration of their time at the Ilitch School, and upon graduation or six continuous years of enrollment, those eligible students will keep their laptop as a gift, at no cost.

Eligible students can complete the form below to apply for the program and submit a brief essay (250 words minimum) explaining why they should be accepted for the program. Students are eligible to receive assistance if they are accepted or enrolled for the upcoming semester, and have committed to a major program offered at the Ilitch School. Preference is given to freshman enrolling for the first time, and mid-semester applications will be considered if a student can provide reasoning for why they have recently become eligible for the program. Proof of financial need is not a requirement to receive assistance from this program.
