Joint M.B.A./M.S.A.
The joint M.B.A./M.S.A. program provides a synergistic combination of business acumen and specialized accounting knowledge, providing a competitive advantage to individuals who wish to excel in their roles as financial experts and as strategic leaders.
This unique opportunity to simultaneously earn an M.B.A. and M.S.A. degree requires only 18 additional credit hours beyond earning the M.B.A. alone. Upon graduation from the joint degree program, students will satisfy educational requirements established by the MICPA for the 150 credit-hour education requirement for licensure as a CPA in Michigan and will be well prepared to sit for the CPA exam.
Ilitch School faculty have expertise in financial accounting, auditing, international accounting, business law and ethics, taxation and other areas. They are committed to helping students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to advance their careers by sharing their professional experiences and bring a real-world context to the academic curriculum.
Admission Requirements
Incoming M.B.A. students can apply directly to the joint M.B.A./M.S.A. program, adhering to the same admission criteria as the standalone M.B.A. and M.S.A. programs.
Current M.B.A. students in existing accounting area concentration cohorts may choose to pursue the M.S.A. degree along with an M.B.A. Please speak with a graduate advisor to formally opt-in to this option.
Many courses will be offered online. However, a combination of both online and in-person courses are required for completion of the joint M.B.A./M.S.A. program. Students are encouraged to consult with the department chair to discuss possible elective courses and core substitutions.
