International & Study Abroad Programs

Study abroad and international programming

Mike Ilitch School of Business students

International study is part of a world-class business education and is a life-changing experience. As a business student in good academic standing, you are encouraged to pursue study abroad!

Faculty-led programs

In conjunction with the WSU Office of Study Abroad & Global Programs, the Ilitch School offers faculty-led programs annually for graduate and undergraduate business students looking to expand their cultural experiences while increasing their business knowledge on an international scale. Each program takes students on visits to name-brand domestic corporations and start-ups, as well as to the overseas operations of Detroit-area companies. Cultural sites and fun excursions are also on the itinerary. Students earn three academic credits with the satisfactory completion of the program. Faculty-led programs run during the spring/summer terms, as well as over spring break.

Individual exchange programs

Consider an individual exchange program if you would like to select your own destination and program of study. Wayne State offers 12 countries to consider for a study abroad experience. Programs run from four weeks to a semester or more. The WSU Office of Study Abroad & Global Programs can help you apply for admission to a college or university based on your country of choice. Individual exchange programs run each academic term and vary in length.

We're here to help

Meet with an advisor to discuss your program goals and degree requirements before applying for a study abroad program. Undergraduate students contact Louise Moceri, director of international and study abroad programs, Frederick Hessler Student Success Center. Graduate business students should contact their academic advisor through the Ilitch School's Graduate Programs Office.

International students

We welcome qualified international undergraduate and graduate students to apply to study with us in Detroit to learn from our internationally ranked faculty in one of our AACSB internationally accredited programs.

Students can register as an exchange student for a term, or as a degree-seeking student for an entire program. We offer programs at the doctoral, master's and undergraduate levels. Additionally, the school offers a variety of post-bachelor and graduate certificate options.

For more information and to get started on your application to WSU, please contact Lisa Kyle, international exchange coordinator, Office of Study Abroad & Global Programs.
