About us
With seed funding provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers, a "Big Four" public accounting firm in Detroit, MPREP was originally designed to increase the diversity of entry-level employees in accounting and finance. The program has now grown to provide circles of support for multicultural students from all majors within the Mike Ilitch School of Business.
MPREP aspires to increase the number of underrepresented, multicultural students in business by creating a unifying collaboration between Ilitch School academic resources, corporate supporters/mentorship and community engagement.
MPREP Scholars are supported through:
- Corporate mentorship
Each Scholar is paired with 1-2 professional mentors with consideration to the student's major, professional interests and racial/ethnic identities. Students will remain paired with the mentor(s) until they graduate from the program. - Professional development
Scholars engage in WSU career fairs, fellowship programs, various company leadership programs, virtual events/conferences and other professional networking opportunities. - Industry exposure
MPREP Scholars are exposed to companies representing all six majors (accounting, finance, global supply chain management, information systems management, management and marketing) through corporate workshop presentations twice a week for the duration of the fall and winter semesters. - Academic support
All Scholars receive individualized evaluations and support plans based on their academic performance. This includes monthly check-ins for discussing/reviewing coursework performance, time management and needs for tutoring.
