Wayne State Innovation Center opens today

Wayne State University's new innovation and entrepreneurship hub is set to open today. The Wayne Innovation Hub, located at TechTown Detroit, will include expanded programming and certification opportunities as well as enhance technology commercialization and community partnerships. The university is hosting a kickoff event 4-5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. The event will include music, food and the launch of a student-led community engagement project in which participants produce one-minute video profiles to highlight the innovations produced by everyday Detroiters. In addition, there will be Innovation, Disruption and Opportunity (IDO) Talks on unexpected entrepreneurship and innovation. The event is free and open to the public. The innovation hub is part of Wayne State's five-year strategic plan that identifies innovation and entrepreneurship as a priority. The university said its focus is driven by rapid technological advances that impact all university disciplines and strongly influence where jobs for students will be in the future.
