Norris Hitchman Endowed Chair and Professor of finance at Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business, shares some tips about finding affordable car insurance and what factors into a premium. “In general, college students are considered risky not only because of their age but also because they are more inexperienced drivers and typically more prone to risky driving habits,” he said. “So, on average, insurance companies set their premiums based on these facts. I know that college grades are considered when premiums are set. Higher grades reflect more responsible behavior on the part of college students leading to lower premiums.”
