Register now for fall 2022 Elevator Pitch Competition workshops

Mike Ilitch School of Business undergraduate students have the chance to win a share of $1,750 in scholarship money during the eighth annual Elevator Pitch Competition on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Renaissance Center.

Students have 90 seconds – about the length of a skyscraper elevator ride – to give an “elevator speech” about themselves describing their education, skills and career aspirations.

Executives from local companies (Ally, the Detroit Pistons, Eli Lilly, Enterprise, GM, Google, Ilitch Holdings, Lear, Plante Moran, Rocket Companies and UBS Financial) will evaluate the students on their ability to sell themselves and present a positive, professional first impression. To be eligible to participate in the finals on Oct. 28, students must attend one mandatory workshop and make it through a semifinal round at the Ilitch School.

Students can register for a workshop on Handshake. Log in with your WSU AccessID email and password, select “Events,” select the “Elevator Pitch Workshop” that you wish you attend and select “Join Event.”

The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 3-6 p.m. in Ilitch School rooms 139/145. Top-scoring students will advance to the finals at the Renaissance Center on the morning of Friday, Oct. 28. Three winners will receive scholarships of $1,000, $500 or $250.
