"Leaders on Leadership" television series to air on WCMU and across Michigan

Beginning January 2011, television viewers in mid- and northern Michigan will get an opportunity to delve into the minds and motives of business leaders through their local PBS station. WCMU, Central Michigan University Public Television, will begin broadcasting “Leaders on Leadership” at 3:30 p.m. Sundays starting January 2.

Each half-hour edition seeks to reveal the character, drive and ambition of chief executives renowned for their leadership in guiding local, national and international organizations.

“I appreciate the range of guests on this series, and especially its strong emphasis on Michigan leaders,” said Linda Dielman, TV program/outreach manager for Central Michigan University Public Television. “We’re always eager to air Michigan-produced programs of this quality.”

“Leaders on Leadership” will continue to air in Michigan on producing station WTVS Detroit Public Television Sundays at 11 a.m., repeated Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. It also airs on WGVU Grand Valley State University Public Television from Grand Rapids, and WGVK in Kalamazoo.

Dan Alpert, senior vice president of DPTV, said, “There are important lessons for people in all walks of life in these interviews with successful organizational leaders. WCMU’s airing of the series will help ensure that more people in Michigan will benefit from the business knowledge of Larry’s guests.”

The addition of WCMU brings the show to most residents of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula and some parts of the Upper Peninsula. It is also available at www.dptv.org On Demand.

“The School of Business Administration at Wayne State University is always eager to extend the opportunity for residents of Michigan to benefit from our extensive range of outstanding academic programs as well as unique outreach initiatives like ‘Leaders on Leadership’,” said Dean David L. Williams.

“Leaders on Leadership” is a partnership between the Wayne State University School of Business Administration and Detroit Public Television (DPTV), and is made possible by a grant from Greenleaf Trust.

Currently in its seventh season, the program is hosted by Larry Fobes, director of the School of Business Administration's Institute for Industrial and Organizational Competitiveness (IOIC). The show won a Michigan Emmy for Best Interview/Discussion Program in 2004.
