Ilitch School selects GM’s Christina Winkler Meredith as 2022 Emerging Leader
The Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business has announced two-time Ilitch School alumna Christina Winkler Meredith as the 2022 recipient of its signature Emerging Leader Award.
Established in 2013, the Emerging Leader Award recognizes a more recent graduate of the Ilitch School who has already distinguished themselves as a rising star in their industry or community and who shows even greater promise for the future.
Meredith received a B.A. in global supply chain management in 2015 and an M.B.A. in 2019, both from the Ilitch School. In 2018, she was honored as an Ilitch School 25 Under 25 awardee, and she currently serves as vice chair on the Ilitch School’s Alumni Council.
Meredith currently works as a joint ventures and alliances project manager. She previously worked as an upper structures creativity team lead for General Motors, where she developed a process to streamline budget-impact requests for management approval, then led its implementation and buyer training. Meredith also led collaboration across product engineering, cost engineering and supplier quality to ensure a successful launch for more than $200 million in annual purchase value.
As the company lead of the GM/WSU Supply Chain Case Competition, which involves 20 to 25 collegiate teams from around the world, Meredith heads the case-writing team, recruits judges, obtains sponsorships, develops the work plan and manages required resources. Through this endeavor, she builds further relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Meredith also worked on reimagining training for new buyers in the work-from-home structures space and implemented weekly training and office hours. She created commodity-specific training to promote smooth transitions and a deeper understanding of the role. Additionally, Meredith was recently named a 30 Under 30 Supply Chain Star by the Institute for Supply Management.
Meredith will be honored at the Ilitch School’s 42nd annual Recognition and Awards Program on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Roostertail. The Recognition and Awards Program is also where the Ilitch School celebrates the recipients of its Michigan Executive of the Year, Outstanding Alumni, Inspirational Teacher and Outstanding Student awards.
