Ilitch Business student-athletes receive All-GLIAC recognition for women’s outdoor track and field

The Wayne State University women’s outdoor track and field squad had 18 GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) All-Academic honorees, equaling the second most ever. Of the athletes honored, five were Mike Ilitch School of Business students.

Student-athletes receiving All-Academic Excellence Team honors for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 were juniors Thailyia Christensen (marketing) and Mikayla Williams (management) along with sophomores Mikaela Owen (accounting) and Macie Ries (accounting).

Christensen and Williams earned All-Academic Excellence Team honors for the second consecutive outdoor season. Owen and Ries are recipients in their first season eligible.

Izzy Taylor (management) received All-Academic Team recognition for maintaining a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 for the third straight year.

Wayne State recorded the second-most Academic All-GLIAC honorees in school history with 247 during the 2021-22 academic year. WSU has produced 1,817 Academic All-GLIAC recipients over the last decade.
