Ilitch Business student-athletes receive All-GLIAC recognition for men’s golf

The Wayne State University men’s golf program had 10 student-athletes named to GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) All-Academic Teams, including a school-record six to the All-Academic Excellence Team. Of the athletes honored, seven are Mike Ilitch School of Business students.

Student-athletes receiving All-Academic Excellence Team honors for maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 were sophomores Ian Smith (marketing) and Chris Yousif (finance), along with redshirt freshmen Max O’Rourke (finance) and Conor Spencer (management).

Smith, Yousif, O’Rourke and Spencer were all first-year eligible.

Receiving All-Academic Team recognition for maintaining a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49 were senior Jack Tucker (management), redshirt sophomore Garret Day (finance) and sophomore Mat Hawryluk (marketing).

Tucker collected his third award while Day was recognized for the second straight year. Hawryluk was first-year eligible.

Wayne State recorded the second-most Academic All-GLIAC honorees in school history with 247 during the 2021-22 academic year. WSU has produced 1,817 Academic All-GLIAC recipients over the last decade.
