Frankfort's Zimmerman closing out stellar college career

Kyle Zimmerman is on schedule to graduate this spring from Wayne State University with a degree in management, and before the baseball team headed to Florida for its annual slate of exhibition games, he was voted a co-captain by his Warrior teammates. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Frankfort graduate enters his final season with the Warriors as the active career leader in numerous categories. With some younger players in the lineup this season, Zimmerman will be counted on as an inspirational leader to help the less experienced players transition to playing at the NCAA level. "He's definitely matured," Wayne State coach Ryan Kelley said. "I think that the talent has been pretty steady throughout his career, but his maturity has gotten a lot better. I look forward to having him have a great senior year to finish his career." As long as he stays healthy and executes when the scouts are in the stands, Kelley says Zimmerman has the skill and mindset to make it.
