Departmental honors
Mike Ilitch School of Business students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher can qualify for honors distinction on their transcript and diploma by completing 15 honors credits. To be eligible, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and fulfill specific course requirements, including core, major, and business foundation classes with honors option designations, and complete an honors thesis. For more details or to declare honors, students can apply online or contact their advisor for guidance.
Requirements
To earn the departmental honors distinction on a transcript and diploma at the time of graduation, students must:
- Maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher
- Complete classes with Honors Option designation:
- One core requirement (3 credits)
- BA 3400, FIN 3290, MKT 2300, MGT 2530, TIS 3630 or GSC 3600
- One major requirement (3 credits)
- One additional business requirement (3 credits) with an Honors Option
- Any core class, major class, or any 2000 level or higher business foundation course
- Complete an honors thesis in an upper-level class (5000 or above) in their major field of study.
- HON 4200 level class (3 credits)
- One core requirement (3 credits)
