3. Engage in connection opportunities
Post on Handshake
The Mike Ilitch School of Business uses Handshake as its primary platform for job, internship, and event postings. Employers can create an account at joinhandshake.com to post positions, manage applications, and connect directly with students. Handshake also enables employers to participate in and promote virtual events and conduct resume reviews or interviews.
Build Your Campus Brand
Employers can enhance their presence on campus by collaborating on branding opportunities such as student organization partnerships, event sponsorships, and Handshake feed posts. These efforts increase brand awareness among students and improve recruitment outcomes by positioning the employer as an engaged and attractive workplace.
Participate in Career Fairs and Events
Employers are encouraged to attend recruiting events held throughout the academic year. These include events such as the Fall and Winter Ilitch School Business Career Fairs, our Lunch & Learn series, employer info sessions, Coffee chats, and on-campus or virtual interviews. Career Services can help employers select the right events to match their recruiting goals.
Offer Experiential Learning Opportunities
Employers can offer internships, co-ops, micro-internships, job shadows, or project-based work to strengthen their connections with students. These experiences provide students real-world skills while allowing employers to evaluate talent in action and contribute to student development.
Volunteer to Support Student Career Development
Employers can make a meaningful impact by volunteering their time to support student growth. Opportunities include participating in informational interviews, serving as a career mentor, providing resume or mock interview feedback, or hosting office hours in Ilitch School Career Services. These engagements allow professionals to give back while building early connections with emerging talent.
