Ilitch School announces Aniel Majjhoo to receive Outstanding Student Award
The Mike Ilitch School of business has announced that Aniel Majjhoo B.S. ‘99 M.D. has been selected to receive the 2023 Outstanding Student Award at the 43rd annual Recognition and Awards Program.
Majjhoo is set to become a triple alum of Wayne State in December 2023. He completed his undergraduate degree in biology with a business minor in 1999, and graduated from WSU medical school in 2005. He is currently in the final semester of his M.B.A management program.
Upon graduating from medical school, Majjhoo began a storied career in medicine. He acquired certifications in neurology, vascular neurology, neurocritical care, interventional neurology and is one of only 28 doctors in the United States certified by the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties in interventional neurology. He was recruited by McLaren Health Care, where he currently serves as Medical Director of Neuroscience, and in 2015 founded the McLaren Stroke Network, one of the highest volume telestroke centers in the nation, of which he is also a director.
As his career in medicine progressed, Majjhoo found himself making as many business decisions as he was medical ones, prompting his return to Wayne State’s Mike Ilitch School of Business to complete an M.B.A, which he uses every day as Medical Director of Neuroscience. He has also used his business acumen to manage a non-profit that he established in his parents’ names to provide continuing education and clinical equipment for healthcare organizational needs.
Majjhoo will be honored on November 17, 2023 at the 43rd annual Recognition and Awards Program at the Roostertail. He will be honored next to the recipients of this year’s Michigan Executive of the Year Award, Emerging Leader Award, Distinguished Alumni Award, Inspirational Teacher Award, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hall of Fame Award and the Corporate Mentorship Program Founders Awards.
