Faculty Spotlight: Francesca Toscano

The Mike Ilitch School of Business welcomed Francesca Toscano, assistant professor of finance, to the faculty in the fall semester.

Toscano earned her Ph.D. in economics at Boston College and completed her earlier education in Salerno and Naples, Italy.

Her research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance, econometrics, monetary economics and financial economics.

“I work in the credit rating area,” she said. “I am interested in corporate governance issues, such as CEO compensation and incentives, but I am also fascinated by the idea of analyzing the effects of analyst coverage over alternative sources of financing, like trade credit.”

She said she is excited to begin her teaching career here at Wayne State and looks forward to working alongside her new colleagues.

“Wayne State offers a great atmosphere of cooperation among colleagues,” she said. “It’s very unique and rare.”

“I am very excited about the projects I am working on and very open to any new interaction,” she added.

Outside of her work in finance and economics, she enjoys cooking, cake design and traveling.
