WDET: Marick Masters on UAW election participation

Incumbent UAW President Ray Curry and challenger Sean Feiner are in a runoff after each won about 38% in the first round of voting late last year. Wayne State University business professor Marick Masters tells WDET's Robert D. Andrea that just over 10% of union members participated. "I would interpret those results as indicating that there is significant dissatisfaction with the current leadership," said Masters. "The current leadership has represented the long-standing administrative caucus, which in this round of elections they relabeled as the Curry Solidarity Team, and for the most part, the caucus members that faced competition only received about 40% of the vote, and the opposition received 60%."
