Sophomore Fatima Cheema earned 2nd place in Human Resources Management, while junior Taaha Najam was recognized as a finalist in Retail Management, both achievements underscoring the talent and potential of Wayne State’s rising business leaders.

Chapter President Sophie Meyer, a sophomore majoring in Global Supply Chain Management and Marketing, was honored with the Individual Leadership Passport Award, in recognition of her exceptional commitment and leadership throughout the year. The Ilitch School chapter also received the Chapter Leadership Passport Award, a remarkable feat that highlights the team's dedication, vision, and impact in its first year of operation.

“When I came to Wayne State University, one of my biggest hopes was to continue my DECA journey at the collegiate level. Receiving the Leadership Passport Award was such an incredible moment, it’s truly rewarding to be recognized for something I’ve put so much heart and soul into,” said Meyer.

Founded by Meyer at the end of her freshman year, Wayne State DECA was established to create a community that empowers students through professional development, real-world business experience, and leadership training.

Throughout the year, Wayne State DECA has hosted workshops, training sessions, and networking events, providing members with practical skills, business knowledge, and connections to industry professionals. The chapter’s mission is to prepare the next generation of leaders and innovators by giving students a platform to explore their passions and enhance their professional journeys.
