Ilitch School students place first in Rams Operation Stimulus Supply Chain Case Competition in Fort Collins, Colorado

A team of global supply chain management students at the Mike Ilitch School of Business traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado to compete in the Rams Operation Stimulus Supply Chain Case Competition. The Ilitch School team, consisting of Julia Bryant, Alec Cousino, Spencer English and Xavier Yousif, took home first place at this prestigious competition.

The Operation Stimulus Supply Chain Case Competition provides students with an opportunity to compete and pitch solutions to real-world supply chain problems to a panel of industry professionals and compete for awards.

This year’s competition asked teams of students to pitch the best location for a manufacturing facility, balancing tradeoffs between cost efficiency and shipment costs. The student’s pitch advanced them to the final round, where they incorporated additional complexities in their final pitch, which earned them first place recognition.

Hakan Yildiz, chair of the Global Supply Chain Management Department, was pleased with the success of these students, commenting that “we are incredibly proud of our students who participate in these case competitions, which provide hands-on experience, and allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems.”

The Global Supply Chain Management Department offers opportunities for students to travel for case competitions, as a way for students to develop their supply chain skills. They also host the WSU/GM Automotive Supply Chain Case Competition, that brings students from universities around the US and Mexico to the motor city to compete to solve an automotive supply chain problem.
