Ilitch School alum Claire Shannon '24 is named Student Champion of the Year by the MICPA

Claire Shannon '24, a graduate of The Mike Ilitch School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting has been recognized as the Student Champion of the Year by the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).

The award, presented this summer, celebrates Claire's exceptional contributions and dedication to the accounting field and showcases the strength of Wayne State's accounting program.

The MICPA names a Student Champion of the Year awardee as a part of their efforts to promote and enhance the values of the CPA profession. Student champions work with the MICPA to recruit more students, share the values of the CPA profession, and educate others about the field.

As an awardee, Claire was granted CPA Candidate membership to the MICPA for two years post-graduation. Membership includes opportunities within the organization to cultivate relationships, build leadership and interpersonal skills and network at special events.

Claire was honored to be named, commenting that "Receiving the Student Champion of the Year Award feels like a huge validation of my journey and serves as a testament to the hard work and passion that I have invested in my future. This award gives me added confidence as I transition into my professional career, and it motivates me to continue striving for excellence."
