Amanuel Tekleab, professor of management receives Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship
Amanuel Tekleab, professor of management at the Mike Ilitch School of Business, has been awarded the prestigious Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship. This award recognizes his exceptional business scholarship and unwavering dedication to advancing academia in Africa, his home continent.
The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship program provides grants to African-born academics residing in the United States or Canada and working in higher education institutions. Fellows travel to sponsoring universities to collaborate on projects proposed by host institutions. Tekleab will partner with Addis Ababa University’s School of Commerce (AAU-SoC) in Ethiopia to contribute to their academic initiatives.
Tekleab has been a steadfast supporter of AAU-SoC’s business leadership doctoral program. Over the years, he has reviewed their curriculum, instructed doctoral seminars and helped AAU-SoC to develop programing. In appreciation of his long-standing contributions, AAU-SoC nominated him for this distinguished fellowship, and will be hosting him when he travels to Ethiopia in the summer of 2025 to conduct research and develop their scholarship.
Dean Kleist, who wrote a letter of support for Tekleab, and commented that “this honor is a testament to Amanuel’s exceptional scholarship and commitment to global business education. We look forward to seeing the meaningful outcomes of this partnership and celebrate his dedication to advancing education on the international stage."
Tekleab is excited to begin working on his scholarship project and commented that “I am very happy to be selected as one of the Fellows this year. I believe that this is a win-win all parties involved, and I look forward to contributing my best to the host institution (Addis Ababa University-School of Commerce) and to the missions of the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program.”
