2017 Mike Ilitch School of Business 25 Under 25 winner
B.S. in Marketing, minor in Communication Studies, expected May 2017
A senior in the Mike Ilitch School of Business, Krystal Robinson has earned three scholarships and been actively involved in leadership, campus/community service, and professional development – all while maintaining membership in the Wayne State Honors College through stellar academics.
In December, Krystal was recognized as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success after completing a rigorous leadership training program in teamwork, accountability and goal setting. She joined the organization's executive board as events chair, gaining more experience in leadership by planning and overseeing events for society members.
Krystal is president of the Wayne State chapter of the American Advertising Federation. In this role, she is responsible for managing the organization, planning events and working with the executive board to finalize activities for members. She also is a peer mentor for the Introduction to Business course, coaching students in small groups to encourage academic performance and professional development.
Krystal is actively involved on campus and in the community. She has been an Orientation Leader for two years, spending her summers facilitating new student orientations for incoming freshman and transfer students, helping them get acquainted with Wayne State's campus life and academic resources. She is also part of the WSU Marketing and Communications Department's Street Squad, representing the university at events across Metro Detroit to recruit prospective students, and has volunteered more than 100 hours through the Community of Scholars program in the Irvin D. Reid's Honors College.
In addition to helping others, Krystal pursues her own personal development as a student in the Ilitch School's Corporate Mentor Program. Matched with an executive for one-on-one mentoring, she has expanded her network with industry professionals and attended workshops to improve her professional skills.
"I have had the opportunity to give back to my community in ways, all while being involved on campus, doing leadership training, working to develop professionally, and maintaining my GPA as a member of the Honors College," Krystal says.
Krystal works full-time in Ford Motor Company's advertising department, GTB, formally known as Team Detroit. She is the project coordinator on the Ford Credit and Lincoln Automative financial services account. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in marketing from Wayne State in May 2017. Krystal was recently accepted into the MBA at WSU, and will begin her graduate studies in the spring/summer semester.
