B.S. in Global Supply Chain and Marketing expected May 2017

Raised by a single mother in a family of nine, Hajar Al-wahabi is a self-reliant scholar who has taken charge of her education and her future. She credits the mentorship of Mike Ilitch School of Business faculty with instilling confidence in her leadership and professional skills, as well as pushing her beyond her comfort zone.

Hajar has taken part in several case competitions, learning critical teamwork and networking skills, and traveled to China for a study abroad experience.

She is an officer of the Global Supply Chain Management Association, through which she is developing her team building, leadership and presentation skills, knowledge of the supply chain field. Through this student organization, Hajar helps students find opportunities with employers, aids in their networking skills, and encourages them to help the community through various volunteering opportunities. She is currently helping the organization plan an internal Wayne State case competition to give practical experience to her fellow students.

Hajar is driven to give back and serves as a mentor for the Ilitch School's Introduction to Business course. In this role, she helps students take on challenges like the Elevator Pitch Competition and prepares them for important networking events like career fairs. She is also a teaching assistant for GSC 3600, Operations and Supply Chain Management, with Professor Lori Sisk.

"Today as I approach my graduation date, I am confident, prepared, and capable as a result of my Mike Ilitch School of Business education," Hajar says.
