Register now for 2017 Elevator Pitch Competition workshops

Mike Ilitch School of Business students now have the chance to win a share of $1,750 in prize money at the second annual Elevator Pitch Competition on March 3 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

Students have 90 seconds — the time it takes to reach the Coach Insignia from the ground floor — to give an “elevator speech” about themselves, describing their education, skills and career aspirations.

Executives from major Detroit companies will evaluate the students on their ability to sell themselves and present a positive, professional first impression.

In order to participate, students must attend one of two mandatory workshops to be eligible to compete in the finals. The workshops are on Feb. 16 and Feb. 20 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Prentis 25. Students can register for these workshops on WayneBizCareers.

Beginning at 10 a.m., each student will ride the elevator up with one executive, then down with another. The top five students after the elevator rounds will pitch all judges in a boardroom setting. Three winners will receive scholarships of $1,000, $500 or $250.

The Elevator Pitch Competition is sponsored by the Mike Ilitch School of Business Alumni Association.
