Jack Martin named Detroit's new CFO

Jack Martin (Accounting, ’63; M.B.A., ’66 ) has been appointed chief financial officer for the City of Detroit under a financial stability agreement with the state. Martin is the former emergency manager in the Highland Park School District. “He earned his BS and M.B.A. degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit and is a Marine Corps veteran, so I know he’s well prepared to fight from the trenches with us for this city,” Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said. In a Detroit News article, former Wayne State University president and business professor Irvin D. Reid, who also served on Gov. Rick Snyder’s financial review team, said: "I couldn't imagine a better person more appropriate in terms of technical skills as well as temperament to do the job."
