Biography
Julie Hollinshead is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) and president of Hollinshead Advisory Services LLC, a financial and investment consultancy for individuals, private foundations and nonprofit organizations. For more than 25 years, she has worked in the investment management and banking industries, guiding investment portfolios and creating wealth for institutional clients and private individuals.
Julie also serves as an adjunct faculty member and director of the Student Managed Investment Fund for the Mike Ilitch School of Business. She teaches portfolio management and personal financial planning to undergraduate and graduate students. She believes strongly in giving her students the investment and financial skills they need to make sound financial decisions throughout their lifetimes. Her approach to teaching draws on her finance and investment expertise in both corporate and non-profit organizations, including at The Kresge Foundation where she helped develop the private foundation’s first social investment practice.
Julie has been a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Detroit since 2001. She is a trustee of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and serves on its Investment Committee. She also serves on the Investment Committee of the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Foundation, and served in the same capacity for The Children’s Foundation for nearly 10 years. She is a frequent speaker on investment and personal finance topics, including for WXYZ-Channel 7 Detroit and PBS.
Julie earned a B.A., cum laude, from Tufts University and an M.A. from The Johns Hopkins University.
