Dean's message

Greetings from the Mike Ilitch School of Business!

As we quickly approach the start of another new year, we're reflecting on all the exciting news from across the school during 2019. Here are just a few highlights:

  • We launched the D and the Leader in Me project in partnership with the Detroit Police Department. This project, one of ten worldwide to receive a $25,000 grant through the Ford Motor Company Fund's Ford College Community Challenge, gave Detroit high school students an opportunity to learn more about the city's revitalization and themselves through an intensive, 10-weekend program.
  • We welcomed Marian Ilitch, Florine Mark and Bernie Morey as the inaugural members of our new Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hall of Fame. This hall of fame was created to recognize individuals whose longstanding, demonstrated commitment to vision, innovation and perseverance within the Detroit business community and beyond will serve as an inspiration to current and future WSU students.
  • As part of our ongoing commitment to offering high-quality academic programs that better prepare our students to compete for top jobs, the Ilitch School has partnered with Wayne State's Law School, School of Social Work, and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to announce a minor in law program for undergraduate WSU students. The program will launch in winter 2020.
  • At more than 4,300 students, we kicked off fall semester with our highest enrollment in decades. In fact, enrollment in the Mike Ilitch School of Business has grown by more than 45 percent since 2014, and we can boast the fastest-growing part-time M.B.A. program in the Midwest.

Both personally and on behalf of all of us at the Ilitch School, I wish you and yours a joyous holiday season and a happy and healthy 2020! I hope you will take the opportunity to come and visit us at our home in The District Detroit in the new year.

Sincerely,

Robert Forsythe
