YEA! WSU to host second academy for young female entrepreneurs

Application deadline extended to Monday, October 10!

NAWBO/EXCEL and Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business are proud to once again be offering the Young Entrepreneurs Academy program in our community for local female middle and high school students.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is an exciting academic year-long program that transforms middle and high school students into real, confident entrepreneurs. Throughout the class, students develop business ideas, write business plans, conduct market research, pitch their plans to a panel of investors, and actually launch and run their own real, fully formed companies and social movements.

Complete with dynamic guest speakers from the local business community and exciting behind-the-scenes trips to local companies, the fun, projects-based YEA! approach empowers students to take charge of their futures in a profound way.  The class is being hosted at Wayne State University, and is offered to young women through NAWBO/EXCEL the 501(c)3 corporation of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Greater Detroit Chapter.

YEA! classes begin October 20. Applications will be accepted only through September 30. Application materials and additional information can be found at ilitchbusiness.wayne.edu/yea.

“We couldn’t be more excited to reignite the spirit of entrepreneurship in our area, and to see what great business ideas our students come up with this year,” said YEA! Detroit Program Manager Carol Kirkland.
