WDIV's Dateline Detroit discusses impact of Meijer and Whole Foods Detroit openings

Jeffrey Stoltman, associate professor of marketing at Wayne State University’s School of Business Administration, spoke on Local 4 News’ Dateline Detroit special “Moving Forward.” Stoltman commented on the importance of major grocery retailers coming back to Detroit. Whole Foods Market and Meijer opened locations in Detroit, where no major retailers have been in six years.

“These are all good signs in terms of what has to happen for the economic vitality of the region and taking it down to a street level for the citizenry of Detroit,” Stoltman said. “This one [change] already looks more real because you can see tangible evidence of it and it feels more realist.”
