Wayne State business school welcomes new member to its Board of Visitors

The Wayne State University School of Business is proud to welcome Frederick A. Hessler to its Board of Visitors (BOV). 

Hessler is a retired managing director of Citigroup, where he headed the not-for-profit Health Care Investment Banking Group from 1990 to 2013. Prior to joining Citigroup Global Markets Inc. in 1985, Hessler was a partner and regional director for healthcare at Ernst & Young LLP, where he was responsible for conducting audits and performing feasibility, corporate reorganization and strategic planning studies for healthcare clients.  He has served as senior banker and advisor to many of the most prestigious and highly rated multi-dimensional organizations in the country, including health providers, insurers and managed care companies. 

Hessler currently serves on the American Hospital Association Operations Committee and chairs its investment committee. He is also the chair of the board of directors for the Public Health Institute and is a board member of the Center for Health Design and the National Center for Healthcare Leadership.

Hessler is a Wayne State School of Business alumnus, having earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1970 and is a non-practicing certified public accountant.

About the BOV

Board of Visitors members serve at the invitation of the dean of the School of Business. Their role is to advise and support the dean on the strategic direction and advancement of the school.
