Walgreens Boots Alliance CEO Roz Brewer kicks off Ilitch School’s winter executive speaker series

Detroit native and Cass Tech alumna Rosalind (Roz) Brewer will be the next special guest of the Mike Ilitch School of Business Dean’s Executive Speaker Series. Brewer joined Walgreens Boots Alliance as chief executive officer in March 2021, and she also serves as a director on WBA's board. She most recently served as chief operating officer and group president at Starbucks from 2017 to 2021. Prior to Starbucks, Brewer served as president and chief executive officer of Sam’s Club, a membership-only retail warehouse club and division of Walmart, Inc., from 2012 to 2017.

Brewer previously held several executive leadership positions with Walmart beginning in 2006. Prior to joining Walmart, she served as president of Global Nonwovens Division for Kimberly-Clark Corporation, a global health and hygiene products company, from 2004 to 2006, and held various management positions at Kimberly-Clark beginning in 1984.

Brewer currently serves as the chair of the Board of Trustees for Spelman College, where she did her undergraduate work. She also is a board member of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture and formerly served on the boards of Starbucks, Amazon, Lockheed Martin Corporation and Molson Coors Brewing Company. She is currently ranked #6 on Fortune’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business.

The event will be moderated by two-time Wayne State University alumna Pamela J. Moore (‘94, M.B.A. ‘00), president and chief executive officer of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation.

All Wayne State students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are invited to attend this free event, which will feature an insightful discussion between our moderator and featured guest. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit potential questions along with their event registration.

Cass Tech students are especially encouraged to attend this discussion between two prominent Cass Tech graduates. The event is intended to serve as a launching point for an enhanced partnership between the Ilitch School and Cass Tech that will benefit the students and alumni of both institutions.

To address these pivotal questions, the Mike Ilitch School of Business launched the Dean’s Executive Speaker Series in January 2021. The series is presented by the Ilitch School’s Graduate Programs Office and hosted by Assistant Dean Kiantee Rupert-Jones.
