Venue Management for Sport and Entertainment course offered this fall

The Mike Ilitch School of Business M.B.A. concentration in sport and entertainment management will be offering a class on venue management (SEM 8000) for the fall 2020 semester.

“Now more than ever in the wake of COVID-19 and civil and economic upheaval, sport and entertainment professionals need to understand the many impacts of trends on the industry,” said course instructor Tamme Quinn Grzebyk. “This course capitalizes on contributions from experts in the field to help prepare tomorrow’s leaders in the industry.”

Students will examine the management of venues in the entertainment, sports and convention industries. The course will also focus on functions such as:

  • Facility construction design
  • Risk management
  • Food and beverage operations
  • Crowd and crisis management
  • Facility operations
  • Venue policy and procedures

The major course concepts and strategies will be viewed through the lens of sustainability specifically related to the environment, economy, ethics and equity.
