Two SBA alumni among DBusiness' "30 in Their Thirties"
School of Business Administration alumni Kevin Jappaya, B.A. Accounting '02, and Brian Szliter, M.B.A. ’03, were recognized as part of DBusiness magazine’s 2013 class of "30 in Their Thirties." Jappaya, 32, is the senior associate of Thomas A. Duke Co. in Farmington Hills. Szliter, 38, is the COO of Arteva Homes in Bloomfield Hills.
"I enjoy helping people find investment opportunities, and (helping) those who are looking to buy or sell properties for their own businesses," Jappaya said. "When times were tough, I hung in there. That’s what I’m proud of—understanding that situation, adapting and reaching out to the people who were selling those assets."
"When the downturn happened, many competitors turned to slashing prices, but that wasn’t our focus. We found a niche of customers who appreciated the fit and finish, but also didn’t just want to buy a cookie-cutter box design," Szliter said.
