SE Michigan purchasing index remains strong despite slight June dip

June brought the first drop of the year in the Southeast Michigan Purchasing Managers Index, going from 66.4 to 66.1 on a 100-point scale. Nevertheless, any level above 50 indicates economic growth. Timothy Butler, an associate professor of global supply chain management at Wayne State University’s School of Business, said: “Employment continues to be strong, which is certainly great news for recent college graduates in the region.” The index is a research partnership between the School of Business and the Institute for Supply Management - Southeast Michigan.
