Register now for fall 2020 virtual Elevator Pitch Competition workshops

Mike Ilitch School of Business undergraduate students have the chance to win a share of $1,750 in scholarship money during the sixth annual (and first virtual) Elevator Pitch Competition on Friday, Oct. 23.

Students have 90 seconds – about the length of a skyscraper elevator ride – to give an “elevator speech” about themselves describing their education, skills and career aspirations.

Executives from major Detroit companies will evaluate the students on their ability to sell themselves and present a positive, professional first impression. To be eligible to participate in the finals on Oct. 23, students must virtually attend one of the mandatory workshops and submit a pitch video for an initial round of judging.

The workshops will be held via Zoom and Canvas (students can register for a workshop with their WSU Access ID email and password via Handshake):

At these workshops, students will be given instructions on creating and uploading their videos into Canvas by Friday, Oct. 9. Students will be notified by Sunday, Oct. 18, if they have made it to the final round, which will take place the morning of Friday, Oct. 23.

Three winners will receive scholarships of $1,000, $500 or $250.
