Mike Ilitch School of Business welcomes five new members to its Board of Visitors

The Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University is proud to welcome five new members to its Board of Visitors (BOV). Board of Visitors members serve at the invitation of the dean. Their role is to advise and support the dean on the strategic direction and advancement of the school. A full board roster is available online.

The new members are:

Mary Glantz

Mary Glantz’s professional experience includes working in mergers and acquisitions at Comerica during its initial years of outstate expansion, management consulting for a variety of commercial industries and not-for-profit companies during her time at Coopers and Lybrand (now PwC), and strategic planning at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan. She also held a variety of positions at Hewlett-Packard, including client financial consulting related to technology acquisitions and leasing sales. Glantz left the corporate world to home educate her two sons. During that time, she was active in charitable and educational endeavors. She chaired the scholarship committee of the Michigan Catholic Home Educators and served as a volunteer of the same organization from 1997 until 2013. She has been an active board member and committee chair with the Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul–Oakland County Association since 1998 and served as president from 2011 through 2013. Mary Glantz is co-chair, with her husband Paul, of the Pivotal Moments campaign for the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University.  She is a graduate of WSU, having obtained a bachelor of science with distinction in accounting. She also earned an M.B.A. from Michigan State University.

Marina Houghton

Marina Houghton, CPA, is the Michigan managing partner of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. Previously, Houghton was the founder and president of Wolinksi & Company, where she specialized in providing accounting and consulting services to governmental, healthcare, manufacturing and not-for-profit organizations. She was named one of the “Top 40 under 40” by Crain’s Detroit Business in 2002. In 2003, she received Wayne State University’s Emerging Corporate Leader Award and was a finalist for the Eastern Michigan 2003 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Houghton has served on committees for several professional and not-for-profit organizations, including the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Detroit Zoological Society, Wayne State University, Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation, Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education and Beyond Basics. She received her bachelor’s in business administration at Wayne State University and completed advanced studies at Harvard Business School.

Marybeth Howe

Marybeth Howe is the executive vice president of Wells Fargo Bank’s Great Lakes division, where she is responsible for commercial banking activities in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Previously, she served as the executive vice president of PNC Financial Services Group and executive vice president of PNC Bank. She also is co-chair for Wells Fargo’s Women in Leadership Committee, which consists of 100 senior banking executives who empower women to rise to higher levels across the corporation. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A in finance and marketing from Ohio State University.

Randy Paschke

Randy Paschke is an executive-in-residence at the Mike Ilitch School of Business. Prior to that, he served as the director of external relations and community engagement and chair of the Department of Accounting from 2002 to 2012. Before joining Wayne State University in 2002, he was a partner at Arthur Andersen LLP, joining in 1970 and admitted in 1982. At Andersen, he was the managing partner of its Michigan practice (1987-1996), managing partner of its Great Lakes region international tax practice (1998-2000), and managing partner of its U.S. international tax and trade practice (2000-2002). He has lectured, researched and written in many areas of taxation. He also continues to work as a consultant, and serves on several boards of directors for corporations. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1971 with a bachelor’s in business administration. He is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

David Zilko

David Zilko is currently the CEO of FUEL Leadership, a foundation that creates live business events to elevate professional performances throughout the world. He is also an equity partner in multiple successful food enterprises, most notable Garden Fresh Gourmet, where he served as president and vice chairman. In June 2015, Zilko and his executive team sold Garden Fresh to the Campbell Soup Company for $231 million. He is also an operating partner at Huron Capital Partners LLC, a Detroit-based private equity firm with more than $1 billion under management. He serves on the boards of the $60 million Grow Michigan venture fund, Jimmy Buffett’s charitable foundation and “Singing for Change,” and is on the executive board of Forgotten Harvest, the largest food rescue organization in the country. Zilko graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in finance and earned an M.B.A. in marketing from George Washington University.
