Mike Ilitch School of Business Ph.D. student Kawser Ahmed Shiblu receives $46,000 Thomas C. Rumble Fellowship for research
Kawser Ahmed Shiblu, a Ph.D. candidate studying finance at the Mike Ilitch School of Business,
has been awarded the 2025-26 Thomas C. Rumble Fellowship for Research, a $46,000 award.
The Thomas C. Rumble Fellowship is designed to optimize Ph.D. students’ performance by
supporting their research and further studies. This fellowship provides a $20,000 stipend for the
academic year, a tuition scholarship, and medical, vision, and dental insurance.
This program targets Ph.D. students who have built a record of exceptional research and allows
them to begin the dissertation process without having to teach classes or serve as research
assistants. Recipients are expected to pursue research projects that could be presented at
professional conferences or published in peer-reviewed journals or to pursue extramural
fellowships, scholarships, or grant submissions to national funding agencies.
Upon receiving the award, Shiblu commented “I am truly honored to be selected as a recipient of
the prestigious Rumble Fellowship. My current work explores how culture, societal trust, and
institutional factors influence corporate financial decisions, intending to contribute to academic
understanding and real-world policy. Being recognized in this way is both humbling and
inspiring, and it motivates me to strive for academic excellence with renewed dedication.”
