DETROIT -- The Wayne State University men's golf program had 12 student-athletes named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic Teams, including a GLIAC-leading six to the All-Academic Excellence squad.  Over the last seven years, WSU men's golf has had 71 student-athletes recognized with GLIAC All-Academic honors.

The six Warriors receiving All-Academic Excellence Team honors for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 were redshirt junior Matt Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.), juniors Ian Smith (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) and Chris Yousif (Commerce, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central), redshirt sophomores Max O'Rourke (Commerce Twp., Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) and Conor Spencer (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi), along with sophomore Tyler Hurtubise (Essex, Ont. / Essex District).

Pelak (Mechanical Engineering) was recognized for the third consecutive year, while Smith (Marketing), Yousif (Finance), O'Rourke (Finance Honors) and Spencer (Management) were honored for the second straight season.  Hurtubise (Sport Management) was first-year eligible.

WSU had six golfers garner All-Academic Team accolades for having a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.49.  They were redshirt juniors Garret Day (Chatham, Ont. / Ursuline College Chatham), Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.) and Alex Saroli (LaSalle, Ont. / Holy Names), junior Mat Hawryluk (Chatham, Ont. / Ursuline College Chatham), sophomore Max Leppelmeier (Wauseon, Ohio / Pettisville) and redshirt freshman Adam Burghardt (New Baltimore, Mich. / Warren De La Salle).
