Maria Franklin, Detroiter, MBA candidate, profiled by the District Detroit

Detroit-native Maria Franklin is taking part in Detroit’s comeback. Franklin, an MBA candidate at the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, is learning all about the sports and entertainment industry in Detroit with an eye on the future, when she’ll get her chance to make an impact on her hometown. This semester, she’s studying The District Detroit development in Wayne State’s inaugural semester-long Sport & Entertainment Management courses. The first-generation college student, wife and mother of three earned her bachelor’s degree at Wayne State. During the day, Franklin teaches nutrition at several high schools in Detroit, including the Detroit School of Arts in Midtown and her alma mater, Cass Tech High School.
