Jeremy Jones to receive Ilitch School's 2018 Outstanding Student Award

The Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business has announced the 2018 recipient of its Outstanding Student Award. Jeremy Jones will be honored at the school’s 38th Annual Recognition and Awards Program on Monday, Oct. 15, at the Detroit Athletic Club.

Jones is a dual major in finance and accounting with a 3.6 GPA. He recently completed an internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was responsible for creating and managing systems for improved data visualization and constructing trackers to monitor the well-being and digital fitness of employees and interns. Currently, Jones is an peer mentor for the new Ilitch School of Business PwC MPREP Scholars programs, which aims to recruit and retain a diverse body of undergraduate students and to prepare them for careers in accounting and finance.

He is highly active in the WSU community, serving in various leadership roles as president of the Multi-Cultural Greek Council, vice president of Sigma Beta Rho fraternity and a Resident Advisor in Ghafari Hall. As a student ambassador for the Ilitch School, Jones also assists with the execution of various events and activities, including the annual Back to School Bash.

Outside of campus-related activities, Jones volunteers with Gleaners Food Bank, SOS Children’s Village – which provides homes for children in need – and the Downtown Boxing Gym. He’s also in the process of starting his own community service organization wherein children would learn to build computers to be donated to Detroit Public Schools.

Jones is expected to graduate in May 2020.
