Ilitch Business accounting major receives prestigious honor for academic and athletic excellence

Ryan Katulski, junior accounting major in the Mike Ilitch School of business and co-captain of the Wayne State University swimming and diving team, was recently selected as a recipient of the 2019 GLIAC Commissioner’s Award for academic and athletic excellence.

Katulski was a five-time All-American at the 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving national championships, helping the Warriors to a fourth-place finish. His four first-team All-America certificates came as he anchored two second-place NCAA relays. Katulski was also a four-time GLIAC champion this season as a member of the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay and 50 freestyle.

Additionally, Katulski has been on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) in his five semesters at WSU – including one 4.0 term – and currently holds a 3.85 GPA.
