Ilitch School welcomes new student organization focused on entrepreneurship and innovation

The Mike Ilitch School of Business is pleased to announce the launch of the Warrior Entrepreneurs and Innovators (WEI) student organization. The founders of WEI intend to focus their efforts on creating opportunities for student entrepreneurs and innovators to network, engage and learn about the Detroit entrepreneurial ecosystem.

WEI will host workshops, networking events, guest speakers and a variety of other activities. Membership is open to all WSU students. The first interest meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. in 237 MIKE. For additional information about WEI, contact founding members Julia Lasak or Micah Whitfield.

WEI’s first guest speaker will be Ashley Williams, founder and CEO of RIZZARR-The Millennial Marketplace, on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 10 a.m. in 319 MIKE. For more information or to register, check the event listing the Ilitch Business website.

According to Prof. Jeff Stoltman, WEI’s faculty advisor and the director of entrepreneurship and innovation (EI) programs at the Ilitch School, membership will include many additional opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

WEI partners closely with the school’s academic programs in EI. These programs offer a variety of courses each semester teaching students from across majors how to bring new ideas to life. There are still seats available in all sections for winter 2020, including a course in Startup Funding and Profitability, and another in Social Entrepreneurship. Contact Jeff Stoltman to learn more.

Students who participate in the Ilitch School’s EI programs have an opportunity to work with the Belinsky Entrepreneurial Learning Laboratory to build and grow their business, obtain additional funding and connect with advisors and mentors.
