Ilitch School students recognized for 2020-21 Athletics Deans’ Awards

The Wayne State University Department of Athletics holds an Academic Recognition Luncheon annually to honor student-athletes who received at least a 3.5 term GPA for the fall semester of that particular academic year. This year, however, a recognition event was held in three phases at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility in order for social distancing to occur.

Nine individuals earned the Deans’ Award for having the highest cumulative GPA among all student-athletes in that particular college.

Mike Ilitch School of Business finance and global supply chain management major Alexis Miller, a junior on the women’s basketball team, earned the Deans’ Award for the second consecutive year. Miller has earned a spot on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (term GPA of 3.5+) all five semesters at WSU with a 4.0 term GPA every semester. A 2019-20 recipient of the NCAA Division 2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, she was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District nominee each of the last two seasons. This past winter, Miller was the only Warrior to start all 20 games as WSU finished tied for third in the GLIAC with an 11-7 league mark.

Irvin D. Reid Honors College student Adrianna Waack was a senior on the women’s swimming and diving team. A finance honors major in the Ilitch School, Waack has been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (term GPA of 3.5+) all seven semesters at WSU with a 4.0 GPA six times. She will be a three-time GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team selection, as well as a three-time recipient of the Division 2 ADA Academic Achievement Award. Waack was recognized in the 2018-19 Mike Ilitch School of Business 25 Under 25 program. This is the second consecutive year Waack has received the Deans’ Award from the Irvin D. Reid Honors College.
