Ilitch School raises $54,520 on Giving Day

Wayne State University hosted its fifth annual Giving Day celebration on April 8. The Mike Ilitch School of Business raised $54,520 during the 24-hour campaign with a 33% increase in individual donors over the previous year. The amount raised put the Ilitch School in the top three WSU schools and colleges for Giving Day 2021.

While gifts and commitments were earmarked for a variety of projects, the Ilitch School highlighted specific challenges related to the Alumni Council Student Experience Fund, Board of Visitors Faculty Award for Student Impact, and an Ilitch School-wide Student Emergency Fund to provide scholarships to business students who have outstanding student account balances and may be at risk for dropping out.

Alumna Lara Colling (B.S. ’15, M.B.A. ’16) said, “Giving Day is never a question for me. It's a good annual opportunity to give back to the Mike Ilitch School of Business for setting me up for a successful career.”

Ilitch School Alumni and Donor Relations Officer Vanessa Miller added, “Giving Day is an important opportunity to engage and support amazing projects and programs at the Mike Ilitch School of Business and across the university. Every gift—large and small—makes a difference. It’s a way for the entire Wayne State community to come together and support our students and programs.”

The Ilitch School received gifts from 168 donors this year, an increase of 42 unique donors over Giving Day 2020. Overall, WSU raised $521,046.72 from 1,717 donors.
