Ilitch School launches signature “Dean’s Speaker Series”

Beginning in January 2021, the Mike Ilitch School of Business launched a monthly, virtual speaker series. While the specific topics discussed during each session were determined by the moderator and his/her featured guest, the general theme of the winter series was “What’s next? The post-pandemic future of business.”

The primary audience was Wayne State University students and alumni, although the series was free and open to the public.

The inaugural semester’s presentations included:

Featuring Matt Elliott, Michigan market president and region executive, Bank of America
Moderated by Tiffany Douglas, senior vice president and market executive, Bank of America

An insider’s guide to careers in private equity and operations management
Featuring Travis Kelly (M.B.A. ’01), president and CEO, Isola Group, partner, Cerberus Capital Management
Moderated by Manoj Kulchania, associate professor of finance, Mike Ilitch School of Business

What’s next? The post-pandemic future of entrepreneurship
Featuring Camille Walker-Banks (B.S. ’95, M.U.P. ’08), executive director for Michigan, NPower
Moderated by Matthew Roling, executive director, WSU Office of Business Innovation

A conversation with Matt Simoncini
Featuring Matt Simoncini (B.S. ’85), retired president and CEO, Lear Corp.
Moderated by Samantha Jablonski, secretary, Ilitch School Graduate Business Student Association

The series, which will resume in the fall, is presented by the Ilitch School’s Graduate Programs Office and emceed by Assistant Dean Kiantee Rupert-Jones.
