Four Women's Golfers Named To GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team

Groom, Howard, Potts and Vestman honored for work in the classroom.

DETROIT -- The Wayne State University women's golf program placed four student-athletes on the GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) All-Academic Excellence Team.  WSU has had 50 golfers earn Academic All-GLIAC recognition over the last eight years.

The student-athletes receiving All-Academic Excellence Team honors for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 were seniors Natalie Groom (Orangevale, Calif. / El Camino Fundamental) and Avery Howard (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer), along with juniors Logan Potts (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores) and Beca Vestman (Madrid, Spain / Colegio Base).

Groom (Marketing) and Howard (Communication Sciences and Disorders) collected All-Academic Excellence status for the third consecutive season.  Potts (Special Education) and Vestman (Economics) were honored for the second straight year.

Wayne State set a school record with 254 Academic All-GLIAC honorees during the 2022-23 academic year.  WSU has produced 2,071 Academic All-GLIAC recipients over the 11 years.
