Entrepreneurs: Apply now for WeWork Creator Awards startup funding

The Creator Awards are a brand new global initiative from WeWork that will fund entrepreneurs, small businesses, growing companies, non-profits, artists and other creators who are thinking in new ways, building fresh projects and achieving real change. Each Creator Award event is a live experience that unites cities, experts and partners as well as prizing for participants. On Thursday, May 25, the event comes to Campus Martius at Cadillac Square in Detroit, and local entrepreneurs are invited to apply for funding. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 12.

Together, WeWork and Quicken Loans will invest in Detroit’s community of creators – from incubating startups to supporting nonprofits and artists to scaling enterprises. Select finalists from Detroit’s Creator Awards will have access to capital through loans and equity investments. WeWork encourages everyone in the Detroit Creator Awards eligible area to apply, not only WeWork members.

Finalists at the Launch and Scale levels from Detroit Creator Award applications will pitch their ideas to a panel of notable judges to compete for cash prizes totaling more than $1.5 million, with winners having the opportunity to advance to the Creator Awards Global Finals in New York November 2017.

In addition to the Creator Awards pitch competition and award ceremony itself, the Creator Awards encompass a day-long live event experience open to the community. Everyone is invited to stop by during the day to learn new skills in master classes, support local sellers and merchants at a curated pop-up market and network with employers at the job showcase before joining together for an evening of celebrating finalists, sharing inspiration and enjoying entertainment.
